Alberto Araujo pointed out in his report that according to data from the Brazilian Retail Association (Andav), the import volume of fertilizers and plant protection products in Brazil in 2023 has significantly decreased compared to the same period in previous years. Compared to the same period in 2022, Brazil imported 5.934 billion US dollars of fertilizer products from January to May 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 37.8%; The import volume decreased by 10.4% year-on-year. In terms of price, Brazil's import of fertilizer products in 2022 reached a new high in the past decade, with a slight decrease in 2023 compared to 2022. However, the overall trend remains upward over the past decade.

The decrease in imports of Brazilian plant protection products in 2023 is more significant. Compared to the same period in 2022, Brazil imported 1.288 billion US dollars of plant protection products from January to May 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 32.7%; The overall import volume decreased by 48.9% year-on-year.

Glyphosate import volume dropped 68.61% year on year
Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in Brazil and even in the world (the global market share exceeds 30%).
